Ferguson Supports Local Chaplains

Newport News, VA – Ferguson recently extended an invitation to local police agencies and Mary Immaculate hospital’s chaplaincy program members to receive advanced training through a recognized chaplain workshop – Assisting Individuals in Crisis.  Ferguson will sponsor the program facilitated by noted expert in the field of critical incident stress and crisis management, Ron Richardson, president of Chaplain Services International.

“With events that occurred earlier in Virginia this spring, we wanted to assist the local chaplaincy programs with providing a training program to meet the needs of individuals experiencing crisis in our community,” said Manager of Security, Ray Ferrara, “Ferguson believes in contributing to the communities in which we serve.  Ensuring Hampton Roads has qualified chaplains is just one way we can give back.”

Topics covered during the two-day event will include, comprehensive crisis intervention programs, psychological reactions to crisis and trauma, and terms and concepts relevant to the study of crisis, traumatic stress, and crisis intervention.  Additionally, attendees will be able to put these skills to use through demonstrations of selected crisis communication techniques.
