Please refer to the following information when shipping to or from a Ferguson Distribution facility. Contained here you will find our inbound appointment procedures, routing guidelines for LTL and TL, and points of contact information.

Thank you for your support of the Ferguson Supply Chain.

Ferguson Inbound Receiving for all Distribution Centers (DC’s)

All shipments into the Ferguson Distribution Network must have a scheduled delivery appointment. Download the general routing guide for information about delivering to Ferguson locations.

The only exception is for LTL deliveries with less than nine skids. LTL deliveries of that size can be dropped during receiving hours if a courtesy call has been made to the facility notifying them of the drop off.

Hours and contact numbers

Appointment process:

Appointments can only be made via email. To schedule your appointment, please email your request to DC.Receiving@ferguson.com

You must include:

  • Carrier name
  • Vendor Name
  • Trailer Number (if truckload)
  • Ferguson Purchase Order number(s) (IE: L423-9876, L986-123)
  • The date you are hoping to deliver
  • The distribution (DC) location you are delivering to

If a container:

  • Include all of the above information, plus
  • How the material is loaded, either floor stacked or palletized
  • Container size (40, 20 40H, etc)
  • Last free day

You will receive a confirmation via email of your appointment date and time to promptly arrive at the DC.

It is just as critical to not arrive late as it is to not arrive early in the hope of being off loaded before your appointment time. Not all of our facilities have large truck parking areas for drivers to wait, and are often too busy to receive loads early, particularly our pipe yards.

If there is risk of being late for your appointment for any reason (traffic, mechanical failure, etc.) please email DC.Receiving@ferguson.com immediately. Every attempt will be made to reschedule same day, but it may need to be rescheduled to another day. The earlier the notification the greater flexibility when rescheduling.

Any loads arriving to the DC without an appointment can and will be refused. Missed appointments will be cancelled and the carrier needs to coordinate reschedule following the above process.

Proper paperwork and identification are required for receipt of any goods. All drivers must be able to produce a valid driver’s license. International containers must also have all supporting bills of lading and packing lists. Loads where proper identification and paperwork are not available will be refused.

Details by shipping mode:

Small pack/parcel:

Small pack or parcel shipments that typically ship via UPS or FedEx are not efficient modes of transport and receipt into our Distribution Centers (DCs).  Considerable packaging, multiple shipment tracking numbers and small boxes increase the risk of loss, damage and exhaust resources to receive.  Unless a specific item is being expedited, we ask that every effort is made to not ship to our distribution facilities in small pack mode, rather always ship via a truck load mode.

Less-Than-Truckload (LTL):

Less Than Truckload, or LTL, shipments are those typically less than 10,000 pounds or encompass less than 20 feet of trailer space.  Larger shipments could incur volume fees from LTL carriers and should therefore be shipped via a truckload carrier.  As with small pack being inefficient, LTL is as well. We request every effort be made to ship truckload.

Truckload:

There are backhaul opportunities available in some lanes to make inbound deliveries to our DCs. If you are interested in taking advantage of a dedicated fleet backhaul, please contact your supply chain analyst or the Dedicated Logistics team at route.planning@ferguson.com. We also utilize Mode Transportation to handle truckload van and flatbed for all our locations in the United States. The Mode team can be reached at (833) 235-6208 or FEI.OPS.DAL@modetransportation.com.
