Commercial toilets must be durable, hygienic and accessible to handle frequent usage by many different customers at hotels, senior living facilities, restaurants, gas stations and other public places. Choosing an ADA-compliant toilet or urinal is especially important for accommodating users’ diverse needs.
Ferguson offers a wide range of commercial toilets and urinals in various heights and flow rates from top brands like American Standard®, KOHLER® and Sloan®. When specifying a commercial toilet, consider the following characteristics:
Round vs. elongated: Commercial properties often have elongated toilets because their longer bowls make them more comfortable, modern and hygienic. Round bowls are more traditional and fit better when stall space is limited.
Wall-hung vs. floor-mount: Wall-hung toilets have their bowl mounted directly to the wall and the tank hidden behind it, saving space. Traditional floor-mount toilets are less expensive and easier to install but use more space.
One-piece vs. two-piece: A one-piece toilet combines the bowl and tank into one seamless unit that’s easier to install, while a two-piece toilet bolts the bowl and tank together.
Flush type: Traditional gravity flush toilets rely on water flowing down from the tank into the bowl. Pressure flush, or power flush, toilets use air pressure to force wastewater down the drain. Power flush toilets are better at preventing clogs, while gravity flush toilets are quieter and less expensive.
Water efficiency: Toilets carrying the WaterSense label meet the EPA’s requirements for efficiency and performance. One common feature that boosts efficiency is dual-flush capability, which uses less water when flushing liquids and more when flushing solids.
