Background and scope

TierPoint is a premier provider of Information Technology solutions, currently operating 40 data centers across the US. These world-class facilities provide cloud and managed services for thousands of companies across the public and private sectors. TierPoint’s DFW facility comprises more than 208,000 square feet.

In order to support a rigid schedule, the construction firm supporting the project partnered with Ferguson for NUPI PP-R pipe systems. With time a concern, the customer chose to work with us because of our advanced capabilities in fusible pipe fabrication and value-added services like fusion equipment rental.

Method

As a leading provider of fusible pipe solutions and construction services, we offer streamlined fabrication through our strategically located network of fabrication facilities. These facilities, capable of drafting and fusing PP-R pipe up to 24”, conduct rigorous QA/QC testing to ensure a leak-free and on-specification solution. Leveraging these facilities enabled us to deliver installation-ready materials on an expedited schedule.

Through our dedicated project management team, we communicated continuously with the contractor and project stakeholders to organize delivery schedules, including phased delivery of rented pipe fusion equipment and on-site trainings for use of this equipment.

This high-touch approach, combined with our robust fabrication capabilities, helped our customer, not only meet, but improve upon their expected timeline and remain well within their budget constraints for this project.

The Solution

At Ferguson, we know materials are just the beginning of data center projects. Data centers face tight schedules, complex mechanical systems, high volumes of valves and piping components, and aggressive commissioning deadlines. Our commitment to consolidating the complex and providing multi-faceted support through a single channel offers myriad benefits for hyperscale data center customers.

Standardization Across Multiple Sites

Data center customers often build:

  • 6–20+ buildings per campus

  • Identical mechanical rooms at scale

  • Multiyear phased expansions

Our national reach enables standardized BOMs, consistent QA/QC, and consolidated procurement—reducing cost and shortening lead times across regions.

Dedicated Program Management

  • Centralized program office

  • Onsite job trailers

  • Vendor managed inventory (VMI)

  • Timely deliveries

  • Digital documentation

Data center equipment relies on global OEM supply. Our supplier diversity mitigates risk and ensures continuity.
