Great Water Heater
This replaces an exact model that has been in use for 11 years. Due to hard water issues, most water heatrs don't last this long.

Quality construction
I bought this electric water heater a week ago to replace a 14 year old gas tankless one that I installed after dissatisfaction with an inefficient electric unit I used for two years previously. The plumber connected the new unit to the same plumbing the old electric one had used instead of the hookups where the gas tankless one was located. I was not in favor of that because the gas unit was 10 feet closer, but the installation would have been more difficult. I was skeptical, but the new AO Smith unit provides a shorter wait time of the initial flow to achieve the 120 degrees of hot water at the shower. The shower is the furthest appliance from the new water heater (about 30 feet). It’s only been a week, so overall energy costs compared to the gas tankless heater have yet to be assessed. Time will tell, but I am somewhat optimistic based on the operational characteristics so far.
