Not what I thought it would be
So I re did my whole bathroom in Kohler purist stuff, cast iron shower base, tub, faucet etc and the old square towel bars didn’t fit the look so I have been so happy with my kohler stuff I decided to spend the money and get this expensive towel bar. When it showed up it wasn’t “solid” like I was thinking it was going to be and I was ready to return it. So I decided before returning it I would go check at the local hardware store and see if a cheap towel bar would satisfy me. Nope. All of the ones on display at my local hardware store the bar spun freely and made a cheap clinking noise when you touched them. So I decided I’d install these. Wowee, these definitely installed a lot better than I thought they would. I honestly liked the way they mounted to the wall with one exception. I wished they included full on toggle bolts with the metal butterflies that expand behind the wall. I ended up using toggle bolts to make them even more secure and I am very very happy, they are substantially more solid than the ones you get at a local hardware store. At first I was in agreement with some of the reviews that said they were “cheap” feeling, when you get them out of the box I agree, BUT when you put them on the wall they actually are more well engineered and solid than any other towel bar I’ve seen. The old ones had a weird wall plate and a set screw so if you pulled on the towels the whole bar used to fall off the wall. The Kohler bar however, it’s very solidly attached. So the initial feel can be deceiving and I do wish Kohler took the word “solid” out of their description because it’s not true in the context most people think of it in. I think they use solid meaning everything is metal if someone says solid metal construction that doesn’t mean it’s not hollow, it means everything that IS there is metal. I think that’s what Kohler meant here but it’s conveyed poorly in their description. If they fixed that I think the expectations would be different when opening the box.

Not at all high quality
I was shocked when I saw this in person. It is a hollow piece of metal and that’s pretty much it. It was also covered in finger prints. I’m outraged at the price Kohler has on it! I’m returning it promptly.

Expensive for what you get
I had to purchase this expensive towel bar because the Vibrant Modern Bronze is impossible to match with any other brand. Needed this to match my faucet which took 6 months to get in. I was disappointed in the weight of this towel bar. Rather light and flimsy feeling, like the inexpensive towel bars you can get for 1/10th the price. The color does match and no one will ever know (except you the reader) of the flimsiness of the bar.
