Solution to a problem with modifications needed
The 145058 service kit I received had issues. The escutcheon trim screw holes are 2" apart on the diagonal and the 145058's screw holes are 2 1/8" apart on the diagonal. I had to drill new holes and tap/thread to get the kit to work. Previous older reviews said it worked, so was there a design change? I will reach to Moen Customer Service.

Simple solution to using old valve with new trim
Bought a month ago, installed today. Excellent solution to be able to not change the old valve. Sales staff was very helpful in determining this was the correct adapter.

Moving up the ladder
The moen adapter allows me to change the single knob trim of my 1985 shower faucett to a much more expensive look of Moen Kingsley single handle trim (T3111). It gives a new lease of life to my bath room. Delivery of the product was very prompt.

Moen 145058 Moentrol Trim Adaptor for Standard V
The idea of the adapter and the ability to upgrade the external parts of an old valve assembly is great. But this adapter didn't fit very well. I called Moen support ahead of time and they told me I could use this for my valves. It worked, but I had to grind away part of the metal valve flange to get the screw to fit in. Then the adapter plate sat slanted when fully screwed in, such that the final valve cover would not screw in. I had to loosen the adapter plate so that it would not point slightly upward when installed tightly. Then the exterior decorative plate was able to pull against that loose plate to finally tighten up both against each other. But the whole thing was hokey.
My overall rating of the idea itself is 5 stars because for relatively low cost, I was able to upgrade both my bathrooms to have brand new fixtures without having to replace the valves which would have been difficult on one of the baths and very difficult on the other one.
Good job and pricing from Moen. Just this adapter piece was not perfect.
